■  Apple to announce 13-inch MacBook Pro in May

Recently, Youtuber and leaker Jon Prosser has suggested that Apple will announce a new 13-inch MacBook Pro model in May. Apple will announce it under the code name J223. According to analyst Ming-Chi Kuo, Apple has plans to release new MacBook Pro model with the scissor-switch Magic Keyboard in the second quarter of 2020. In March, a new model of MacBook Air with the brand-new keyboard has already been launched.

Right now, there seems to be an imperative for Apple to update the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro. This is mainly because the 13-inch MacBook uses a butterfly keyboard, which can lead to sticky keys and non-responsiveness. From 2018, this has forced Apple to launch a free repair service around the world. The 16-inch MacBook Pro and 13-inch MacBook Air have adopted the scissor-switch keyboard as its brand-new Magic Keyboard. Another reason is that the 13.3-inch MacBook Pro is too expensive. Its price is no lower than the 16-inch version, but with the same configuration. What’s more, its screen is smaller, and it does not have a discrete graphics card. This must be resolved in Apple’s new product line update.

■  Various intelligent home appliances show up at Mi Fan Festival 2020 on April 9, with MIJIA Humidifier 1S debut

This MIJIA device leverages silver ions for its water chamber material, prohibiting the growth of harmful bacteria during the humidifying process. The greatest benefit of using such material is its ability to effectively remove harmful bacteria without harming beneficial bacteria or normal cells.

Besides this, the MIJIA Humidifier also 1S boasts a large 4-liter water capacity that can provide up to 36 hours of hygienic humidification in one single fill. Water can be conveniently injected in the removable water tank. With a wide opening, the water tank is easy to clean. The MIJIA Humidifier is also soothing and quiet with a soft indicator light and a minimal 38db working noise, which will not affect users’ quality of sleep.

Recently the charming Hyundai Prophecy has been displayed online for the first time. It is a low-slung battery-electric 4-door touted as a representation of the brand’s classic design themes. Hyundai specifically mentioned that vintage cars of the 1920s and 1930s served as inspiration. The design represents an evolution of the automaker's Sensuous Sportiness design language. The overall body shape tapers toward the rear, where a large decklid spoiler aids aerodynamics, making the vehicle look very sporty, and its propeller-shaped wheels can effectively reduce air resistance. One of the most unique points of this vehicle is that it has no steering wheel. Instead, twin D-handle joysticks, one located on the door panel and one on the center console. They will not cover the panel like a steering wheel usually does, but to provide the driver with more space for information display. ‘Ninety percent of the vehicle’s functions’ can be controlled through the buttons on the joysticks. Prophecy is not only a zero-emission electric vehicle, but also features air purification functions. Hyundai fitted the Prophecy with an air filtration system complete with fine dust sensors. When dust particles reach a certain level in the cabin, the system takes in air from the outside, filters it for purity and then circulates it through the vehicle. The system is always active, even if no one is inside the car.

■  Five important reasons to buy the iPhone SE2, among which are Touch ID, no notch, A13 bionic processor

The iPhone SE 2020 (or iPhone 9) is undoubtedly going to be released this month. It has five major advantages, which have attracted many consumers.

1. Touch ID. Before the COVID-19 outbreak, Apple had been planning to replace its Touch ID with Face ID, which was considered more convenient to unlock the phone. However, face masks have made Face ID useless and many iPhone users have switched off their Face ID and simply enter their passwords manually. The classic Touch ID is a lot more reassuring, enabling users to unlock their phones even with their masks on.

2. No notch. Although opinions differ when it comes to iPhone’s design solutions, everyone hates the notch, which just gets in the way. The iPhone SE 2020 again adopts the classic 4.7-inch no-notch display, which can bring comfort to users who suffer from OCD, despite the screen-to-body ratio not being very high.

3. Compact and portable. Given the current glut of huge smartphones weighing 200 grams, nothing is more exciting than having a smartphone weighing in at only about 150 grams with a small sized display and a width of 68 mm. The iPhone SE 2020 continues to use the body design of the iPhone 8, and there are few mainstream models with similar size and weight. As a result, being compact and portable has become one of the phone’s unique advantages.

4. A13 bionic processor. iPhone SE 2020 will be equipped with a A13 bionic processor, which is also applied in the iPhone 11 Pro. Although it is not the latest A14, the high benchmarking score of over 500,000 by An Tu Tu Benchmark has proved that A13 is one of the most advanced chips in the current market. Such high performance together with the small-sized display have earned the iPhone SE 2020 the nickname of “mini cannon”. It can also serve as a mini handheld game console for many mobile gamers, so long as they do not mind the small screen size.

5. Priced at $399. It may only cost you 3,000 yuan for one iPhone SE 2020 produced in China. It can be counted as one of the cheapest iPhone ever.
